Teacher, Psalmist and Pastor are among the many anointings the Holy Spirit has placed upon Pastor Felicia Renee Smith. Pastor Renee was born Oct. 15, 1969 to the proud parents of Alicia Wesley and the late Melvin Jackson, the youngest of two girls and three boys. She was born in Philadelphia, PA, but Pastor Renee is a Georgia Peach, living most of her life in her mother's hometown of Savannah, Ga., where she attended local grade schools. She graduated from Alfred Eli Beach High School in 1987, where she excelled academically and enjoyed being a star basketball player for the Lady Bulldogs. Always the model of femininity on and off the court (unless she had the ball!), she was crowned Miss Beach High School that same year. Her prowess and balance on and off the court resulted in a feature story about our Pastor that same year in the Savannah Morning News.
Today Pastor Renee is a successful visionary and entrepreneur, and is the director of the Abundant Faith Pre-School and Child Development Center. Under her leadership, children not only hear about the love of God, but experience it from her loving hands at this three-star rated daycare. Pastor Renee is the loving wife of Dr. Larry Smith, Bishop of Empowerment of Faith Christian Center which he founded under the calling and leading of Jesus Christ in 1999. She is the proud mother of seven children: Joshua, Joseph, Deborah, Alicia, Matthew, Caleb and Israel.
She received her calling into ministry from the womb, but while attending Albany State she received a physical manifestation of the Holy Spirit shooting in her mouth as she was baptized with the Holy Spirit. She has since received open and closed visions of God's call on her life to minister to abused and hurting people, and openly shares her own testimony of past triumphs from victim to victor to show that God can heal and deliver you from past and present hurts and bless you to live a rewarding and vibrant life in Jesus! Her elevation to ministry began once she became a founding member of Abundant Faith World Ministries.
As she continued to grow as a psalmist and build the praise and worship ministry at EOFCC, God continued to use her in ever increasing areas of responsibilities in the ministry. She was ordained an Elder in 2000, all the while continuing to lead the then To His Glory Praise Team (now In His Presence) and overseeing administrative operations as the Church Administrator, which began in a storefront on Old Austin Peay Highway. Then one glorious day, when Dr. Smith was in prayer, the Holy Spirit revealed to him that his plea for help in the ministry was just outside his prayer room. As Pastor Renee walked by the Holy Spirit said, "There's your Joshua," And, after showing herself diligent, uncompromising, zealous and faithful in the ways of the Lord, she became assistant pastor of the ministry in 2003, where Dr. Smith has always called her his best student and marvels at her curiosity and hunger for the Word, ways and will of God.
She's totally sold out for Jesus and continues to share her love of him with others through the powerful and prolific Word of God that's in her and through her gift as a psalmist. Her love of singing began in childhood and the Holy Spirit uses that gift and has enlarged it. Deliverance takes place when she sings. Strongholds are broken. The presence of God is ushered in and people feel His presence because of this wonderful Gift of the Lord!
